EarthCam Launches Improved Photography App for 360 Degree VR Site Tours

New Service Part of Major Upgrade to Technology Leader’s Construction Camera Software

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, May 9, 2017 -- EarthCam, the leader in construction imagery, launched the newest version of its Control Center 8 Software-as-a-Service suite, Version 8.3, which features an improved photography interface and mobile app for 360° virtual reality (VR) jobsite tours. The free app provides project owners and contractors with impressive technology to present weekly updates to stakeholders and delivers entertaining content for public outreach efforts.

EarthCam’s Site Map Cam photography app harnesses the power of 360° spherical technology to create interactive virtual reality photographs at significant cost savings compared to current methods. While other photography documentation solutions require professional photographers and several phases of complicated, time-intensive post-production editing, EarthCam has taken 6 processes and reduced them to one simple step. The app leverages a smart phone’s ability to wirelessly connect to popular VR cameras and transmit data-rich content instantly using EarthCam’s geo-tagging mapping technology. The 360° photos are automatically organized by location within architectural site plans, allowing users to inspect each room, remotely exploring the jobsite via the click of a mouse or the tap of an Oculus VR headset.

“Our new photography app is making it easier for developers and construction managers to share visual information that’s simple to analyze in a fast, cost-effective way,” said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder of EarthCam. “This innovative documentation alternative opens the opportunity for virtually any builder to adopt powerful and effective leading-edge technology for a more intelligent jobsite.”

Since EarthCam’s new process is quicker and eliminates the need for expensive photography services, contractors may save thousands of dollars in monthly photo documentation fees. Additional savings in time and labor costs are clear just in the sheer volume of photographs necessary. For example, one 360° photo viewing all four walls, floor and ceiling provides as much information as 8 separate photos, making this efficient imaging technology a smarter way to communicate interior progress while guarding against future claims and disputes.

This latest release is all part of EarthCam’s ongoing improvements to its software suite of services, including EarthCam Air, which encompasses UAV and aerial imagery, 3D geospatial models, geo-tagged photography and live webcam mapping. EarthCam’s customers will receive a free upgrade to Version 8.3 today.

EarthCam also recently partnered with Procore to integrate its webcam and imagery content into the most widely used construction project management software platform. Procore subscribers can share live streaming video dashboards and view cinematic wide-screen panoramas within Procore “Albums”.
