EarthCam Celebrates 23 Years of Delivering Quality Live Webcam Content and Services

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, August 30, 2019 -- EarthCam, the leading provider of webcam technology and services, is celebrating its 23rd year in business today. Through constant innovation and world-class customer service, EarthCam continues to expand the applications for its imaging solutions, from stadium construction and infrastructure development to showcasing tourism destinations and live event broadcasting.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a prominent and recurring theme for EarthCam this past year and is a flagship feature of its Control Center 8 software-as-a-service. Pioneering new uses for this innovative technology, EarthCam is using AI for entertainment-based applications, including the EarthCam skill for Amazon Echo Show. Through the EarthCam skill, the video-enabled device delivers live streaming EarthCam content based on user utterances, such as “Alexa, show me a sunrise”. Other valuable business applications for the construction industry include AI-edited time-lapse movies. EarthCam’s smart software scans more than half a million archived images each day, looking for both desirable and unwanted features in each image, and then creatively re-edits the video for presentation-ready content.

EarthCam’s camera technology also made major advances with the introduction of H.265 broadcast-quality streaming video. The GigapixelCam X1 performs the function of multiple cameras, delivering 4K video and 5 billion pixel panoramic photography. This standout technology is featured at some of EarthCam’s most highly-trafficked tourism locations, including Times Square, the Empire State Building and Abbey Road in London. With the introduction of this hybrid system, EarthCam has been able to create vivid live video streams that elevate the quality of the content, which is enjoyed by millions of viewers via broadcast TV, digital platforms and social media every day. Also this year, the GigapixelCam X1 technology is being used by some of the largest construction projects, including the L.A. Stadium, Las Vegas Convention Center, Chicago’s Vista Tower, American Dream mega-mall and Hudson Yards NYC.

To share the ever-increasing amounts of content, EarthCam created the Broadway Media Player, a browser-based interface capable of displaying 9 different types of media. Optimized for viewing across multiple platforms and screens, users can watch live streaming video, view highly-detailed gigapixel panoramas and playback archived footage. Users also have access to their 360° reality capture content, for an interactive and informative perspective of project progress.

All of these unique advancements have helped drive the best year to-date for EarthCam, including its award-winning 360° reality capture app-based solution and 11 awards for excellence in time-lapse editing. Remaining steadfast in its mission of delivering first-to-market solutions to support the industry, EarthCam has many future developments already on the horizon.
